Lakewood Summer Meltdown 2015

Back for its seventh year, Lakewood’s annual Summer Meltdown is sure to be a fun family event. Come Saturday, July 9, to downtown Lakewood from 4 - 10 p.m. for an evening filled with food, races for children/adults and all-ages activities.

Melt Bar and Grilled is teaming up as a sponsor alongside LakewoodAlive for this jam-packed event. Not only is there a 5K race, 1-mile Kids Fun Run, street festival with several food vendors and a beer garden, but also this year food trucks are back. The street festival will offer various free activities including a sprinkler park, yoga, skateboarding, exercise programs and more.

This year is sure to top last year with a new 5K race course, a 20-percent price reduction for the Kids Fun Run and an expanded beer garden, with brews from Buckeye Brewing Company and filled with live music. The unique evening 5K race is a relatively flat, scenic course and costs $23 presale, $28 day-of (the cost of the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run is $12). Both prices include a summer Meltdown runners T-shirt.

Pre-registration for this event is open now and until 11:59 p.m. on July 9; day-of registration will start at 5:30 p.m. The kids race is scheduled for 6 p.m., 5K 7 p.m. and the beer garden will open at 5 p.m. There will be several awards handed out to top 3 runners for each gender and age group in the race, and the activities will continue after for a post-race party open to everyone.

Bring family, friends and be sure not to miss one of Lakewood’s leading summer events.
