A 39-year-old woman was arrested after her 12-year-old son called Lakewood 911 from inside the car while she was driving drunk.
Tanisha O. Robinson was driving her son and her two other children, ages 2 and 8, in Lakewood when the 12-year-old dialed 911 from inside the car. He told the dispatcher his mom was “really drunk” and they were in a white car. The dispatcher walked the boy through some questions, asking where they were — in a car, on Madison, near Riverside.
Police stopped the white Ford Escort around 1:30 a.m. on May 28.
The children in the car told officers Robinson had been drinking clear liquids while driving. Robinson said she had some vodka at a graduation party earlier in the day.
Lakewood police said her blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit. They also called paramedics because they thought she was having a diabetic emergency.
Robinson was found guilty of child endangering and driving under suspension by Lakewood Municipal Court Judge Patrick Carroll on Friday; a court clerk said Monday it could be as long as eight weeks before she is sentenced.
She'd previously been cited four times for various driving offenses.
