Jan. 9 Update: Lauren Block, 22-year-old Richmond Heights resident, died Wednesday morning, according to reports. She fell 15 feet over a railing at Christie's Cabaret Jan. 2.

Her family released the following statement:

"We would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support and prayers for Lauren. She has passed away but is an organ donor, and we hope this will enable her to save many lives and live on through others. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at MetroHealth. They worked tirelessly to do all they could to save her life. We ask that the media respect our privacy during this difficult time. We know that she’s in God’s hands."

Jan. 3 Update: OSHA is now investigating, and Fox 8 has this quote from a former co-worker of the injured woman —

“It’s mind boggling, honestly. You hear about girls falling off the pole because they didn’t grab hard enough. Like, those are just common things. But not over a railing,” Roach said.

WEWS reports that a stripper working at Christie's Cabaret in The Flats this morning was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center after falling from the second floor.

The 22-year-old employee is listed as being in critical condition following "major head trauma."

The man who had been receiving a lap dance from the woman said she accidentally went head-first over the rail while trying to perform a dance move, according to reports.

And according to police, two men who saw the incident immediately fled the bar after it happened.
