Update: After news broke that (now former) Lorain County corrections officer William Dembie stabbed his wife to death last week, it was only going to be a matter of time before details the likely turbulent or troubled would emerge. The Chronicle-Telegram reports today that there are accusations on both sides of spousal abuse. Dembie's lawyer claims Holly, the wife, abused William so violently and often that he presents symptoms of battered spouse syndrome. Holly's friends and family, however, say it was she who was the victim of abuse, accusing William of frequently hurting Holly, emotionally and physically.
On the 911 call, Dembie said: “I just couldn’t deal with her (expletive) anymore.”
The article also notes that the couple had a 4-year-old son together, and that Dembie was married once previously. That marriage, which bore three children, ended in divorce.
