[image-1]Youngstown State University has settled with Ma’lik Richmond, the former Steubenville High School football player who was convicted of rape as a teenager.
Under the terms of the deal, Richmond will remain on the YSU football team, and the University will cover all legal costs.
Earlier this school year, a YSU student circulated a petition calling for Richmond to be barred from the team. In response, the university announced that Richmond would forfeit a year of eligibility. YSU wanted to demonstrate that it was taking issues of sexual assault seriously.
Richmond filed suit on Sep. 13
. His attorneys argued that Richmond was a student in good standing, and that YSU had hindered his career prospects by curtailing his eligibility.
