Man Offers $5,000 Bribe To Get Out of DUI

Our favorite police blotter item of the day, from the land of North Olmsted:

DRUNK DRIVING, FITCH ROAD: A habitual drunk driver tried to bribe a tow truck driver to pull his car out of a ditch Jan. 7 after crashing his vehicle on an icy road. The tow operator called police after the suspect walked to his shop and offered to pay him $5,000 to keep officers in the dark about the crash. The suspect has four prior drunk driving convictions on his record.

$5,000 seems like a steep price for a bribe of this nature, unless the dude had no intention of forking over the money. Then again, if this was his fifth DUI, it's probably worth every penny of $5,000.

Also worth every penny: a $20 cab ride.
