Man Steals Cop Car From Shooting Scene in Flats

Cleveland police received a call about a shooting at Club Alchemy (1575 Merwin Ave., just around the corner from the Flat Iron) around 4:30 a.m. early Saturday morning. It seems the gunshot victim accidentally bumped into the alleged shooter while pushing his cousin around in a wheelchair. We have no idea what goes on at Club Alchemy at 4:30 a.m., but there you go.

But that bit of after-hours gunplay isn't the story here. The real nugget in this early morning party-time adventure is Jevonte King, a young gentleman who saw an unoccupied Cleveland cop car idling at the scene and figured he'd help himself to a joy ride, according to 19 Action News.

King hopped in the cruiser, destination unknown, but ended up on I-71 near Bellaire when the cops, using the GPS on the vehicle, tracked him down. One of the tires was reportedly destroyed on the black-and-white when police arrived.

No word on what the hell King was thinking, what the hell he planned on doing with a cop car, or what the hell caused the tire damage.

Oh, and as a bonus, King was also arrested for OVI. The lesson here, as always, is that if you're going to steal a cop car, do so when sober.
