In a move to help make Sandusky a year-round destination, Cedar Point started construction on a new $28 million indoor
sports complex earlier this week on Cleveland Avenue.
The land, bought by Cedar Point two years ago, is next door to the already open outdoor complex
Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center, mere miles from the company's theme park.
The new 140,000-square-foot complex is set to feature volleyball and basketball courts for days, along with an indoor walking track open to the public. A fitness center is also in the works.
The center is on track to open by next year and is expected to
bring in thousands of young athletes and their families to the area. It is owned by Cedar Fair, Cedar Point's parent company. Find out more about Cedar Point's plans for the complex right
here, including a sports medicine facility.
This of course seems like a much more doable event center plan, than
this $2 billion entertainment park being proposed outside of Columbus in Delaware County.
