Since NBA fans seemingly have an endless reserve of cash lying around to pick up billboards like their weekly groceries, another LeBron James-directed advertisement has popped up, this time in James' hometown of Akron. This latest grand gesture follows similar moves in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Portland.
Funded by Akron realtor Alison McIntyre Baranek, this newest billboard is an attempt to convince James to stay in Cleveland, using the phrase "There's No Place Like Home" and a pair of ruby red basketball shoes. The basketball superstar is set to become a free agent by the end of the season.

Located on the I-77, with a second billboard set to go up on March 28, James told reporters this morning that he has seen the recent billboards, but is doing his best to ignore them.

"I see pretty much everything," he said. "But I know what's important, I've always been able to keep the main thing the main thing."

Speaking to, Baranek says she found it important to send a message to James to attempt keep him in Cleveland, despite the billboard's cost.

"I think it's worth the investment to get the word out to LeBron that his hometown loves him," she said. "He does so much for our community, especially the kids. Akron is so much better with him here."
