New Cloud Nothings Album Coming in January

One of Cleveland's best bands, Cloud Nothings, will release their second album at the beginning of the new year.

Frontman Dylan Baldi expands his sonic template on Attack on Memory, which comes out on January 24.

Like he did with last year's self-titled record, Baldi recorded the album in a real studio, rather than using his parents' basement, which served as his studio on his early recordings.

Steve Albini — the legendary recording engineer who refuses to be called a producer — worked on the record, turning up both the amps and attitude this time.

It sounds more like Nirvana's In Utero (which Albini produced, er, recorded) than the Guided by Voices-style low-fi indie rock of the last album.

You can hear "No Future/No Past" from Attack on Memory below. —Michael Gallucci
