Ohio Considered Using Twitter to Announce Executions

Tweet, tweet, you're dead.
  • Tweet, tweet, you're dead.

RT @StateofOhio Darryl Durr was pronounced dead at 10:36 a.m. He died by lethal injection. Also, Justin Bieber is dreamy!! #teambieber

Want to learn when the latest scumbag murderer officially dies by execution in Ohio? Maybe one day you'll learn about it on Twitter and maybe it will look like the sample tweet above, except for the Justin Bieber reference. Officials have at least discussed the idea of using social media to announce times of death, though have held off because of concerns that tweeting the news might not be the most dignified way to get the information out to the masses.

A spokeswoman says Ohio's prison system has contemplated using Twitter to announce when an execution has been completed.

However, Communications Director Julie Walburn at the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says she's concerned that tweeting about an inmate's time of death may be considered in poor taste.

At the very least, the comments on tweets about executions would be priceless. And mean. Probably just mean.
