On The Difference Between Great Legacies And More Heinous Debris

It's Friday and the week is slouching toward a snow-ridden close. Good time to thrust the whole Art Modell business to the surface again.

Cleveland Frowns forms an argument along and against the spine of the classic “You can’t write the NFL history without Art" line.

It’s not about Cleveland being “bitter,” it’s not about Cleveland waging “a war” against Modell, and there’s nothing about what Cleveland should or shouldn’t “get over” that moves the needle a micrometer in favor of his candidacy. It’s just about right and wrong, fame vs. shame, good rules vs. bad ones. And Cleveland, for obvious reasons, has the most useful view possible here.

Listen: The Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2013 is set to be announced tomorrow. And while that institution often garners more cred than its regional neighbor, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, what would the induction of Modell mean for its integrity?
