OSU Football/Gay Bath House Update . . .

If you're having trouble finding interesting reads in the region's Incredible Shrinking Dailies, you might want to seek refuge at the nearest magazine rack. The September 18 Sports Illustrated features a cover story about Troy Smith, the Glenville High grad and Heisman candidate who has Ohio State rolling toward a BCS game. The September 11 issue of ESPN The Magazine has an interesting read about Glenville's coach, Ted Ginn, who the magazine dubs the best high school football coach in the country. Both articles chart Smith's winding course toward the Heisman: ESPN recalls how he, among other Glenville boys, crashed in Ted Ginn Jr's room when his home life was disrupted during high school. SI examines his development as a more traditional pocket passer; after scrambling much of his first two seasons, Smith has logged a whole -14 yards on the ground this season. If you're not into football but are into sweaty men, Charles Fleck, owner of the new and unbelievably swanky bath house on East 26th, just sent over an article from the October issue of Out, which explores the bath-house wars that are brewing in Cleveland. Or you can read Sam Fulwood. Up to you. -- Joe Tone
