The Summer Veggie Dog from Happy Dog at Progressive Field
Since first appearing on PETA's list of
Vegan-Friendly Ballparks as an honorable mention in 2011, the home of the Cleveland Indians has skyrocketed to the top 3 in under a decade.
While popcorn, peanuts and Cracker Jack are all vegan friendly baseball snacks, the heartier options are what brought Cleveland to the top tier of vegan-friendly baseball fields.
The updated ranking is in thanks to vegan grilled cheese from
Melt Bar & Grilled, build your own vegan tacos at
Barrio, the delectable made-to-order veggie burger goodness from
Dynomite Burgers, veggie dogs from
Happy Dog (the vegan standard of the buns are
up for debate), veg-friendly burritos from
Ohio City Burrito, and the mouthwatering dairy-free vegan ice cream from
Sweet Moses.
The great food at Progressive Field is no secret, and Major League Baseball's website has even
featured Happy Dog as offering "the most creative hot dog selections in MLB."
Having a more inclusive menu is not just great for customer experiences, it's great for business. The Cleveland Indians also reported to
VeggieHappy that they saw a 10 percent increase in sales once
Field Roast Grain Meat frankfurters were added to the food options at Progressive Field.
Progressive Field sits at No. 3 behind Minnesota Twins' Target Field as most vegan friendly and The Rangers' Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, at No. 2.
Cleveland is also notably one of two parks featured from the Midwest and one of two Rust Belt states to make the list.
