Plain Dealer Staff Will Be Moved Out of Plain Dealer Building, Replaced by Northeast Ohio Media Group Staff

The great bifurcation of Northeast Ohio's largest daily paper is done, if still messy and confusing even to those within the organizations.

There's the Plain Dealer staff, protected by the union, populating with stories.

And there's the Northeast Ohio Media Group, which claims in its ranks plenty of former PDers who took the offer of slightly more money and a little more freedom to jump from the Plain Dealer ranks and the union.

Those left on the Plain Dealer masthead will be forced to leave the comfy confines of the Plain Dealer's headquarters on Superior Avenue, according to a few tipsters. The building will be renovated and those in the Northeast Ohio Media Group will call it home, conceivably after the Plain Dealer signage is taken down.

What a lovely psychological blow.

While it's not yet known where Plain Dealer staff will be shuffled off to, rumors had conversations at one point suggesting the production facility on Tiedeman, but that of course is not within Cleveland's proper borders, which would be a troubling PR move.
