Located at West 6th and St. Clair, the three shipping container-style businesses open up a new commercial frontier for the city. The Cleveland Browns team shop, open as of several weeks ago, has already attracted lots of attention in this neighborhood.
From the Warehouse District folks:
Small Box is a marketplace featuring stores made from converted shipping containers. The first three tenants, Cleveland Browns Official Team Shop, Banyan Box, and The Wardrobe will be open five days a week. Adjacent to the stores is a cozy pocket park called The Lawn, featuring seating and planters made from salvaged materials. The initiative came about via funding from Enterprise and Ohio Savings Bank last year (a jury prize of $10,000 and a $10,000 grant). This year, the crowdsourced awards will be given out to two of four competing projects: West Side Bike Share, Design [Re]Build, The Historic Log House Village, and Building Up Lakewood. Check out each project over at Green City Blue Lake's awesome blog.
The ribbon-cutting event for the Small Box enterprise will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at the corner of West 6th and St. Clair. The Shivering Timbers will perform as everyone gets their shop on.
