Rock Hall's Summer in the City Concert Series Surprisingly Kicks Ass

Sorry if we spit-sprayed Dr. Pepper all over you. We were just reading the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's first batch of artists lined up for their free annual Summer in the City concert series and were shocked (shocked!) to see three terrific groups on there.

We probably shouldn't be all that surprised, since the Rock Hall teased us last year with a performance by the great Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. But three strong groups out of the gate? You're spoiling us, Rock Hall!

First up is Fitz and the Tantrums on July 6. On July 13 it's Das Racist. And the Joy Formidable is August 3. All shows start at 7 p.m.

The concerts take place on the museum plaza. You can find more info about the series here, including additions to the schedule. Here's hoping they keep up that powerful streak (please, please, please don't book anyone that can be described as "former member of").

Again, sorry about that Dr. Pepper. We were totally expecting concerts with that one guy from Tears for Fears or some other band we stopped listening to in 1989. —Michael Gallucci
