Rocky River Salon Hosts Successful Cancer Benefit for The Gathering Place

Last weekend, Eternal Salon in Rocky River partnered with The Gathering Place to hold a holiday makeover benefit to fight against cancer.

The fundraiser raised $300 from specially priced facials, manicures and hand massages, and with the money the salon was able to contribute five wigs to patients.

The proceeds benefitted The Gathering Place, a local organization that offers counseling and support to current and former cancer patients and their families.

The benefit provided live acoustic music performed by veteran singers Khalil Malik Ismail and Victor Johnstone, well-known performers in Cleveland's karaoke scene. Beer Bellies, a local micro-brewer, served assorted appetizers at the event.

"Being able to help those who have been touched by cancer and giving them a moment where they can suspend time and enjoy a special moment for themselves is the best gift we can give," salon owner Nicole Breitmayer said.

Erin Schuler of Strongsville, the wife of a brain cancer patient, was nominated to receive a makeover — courtesy of the salon. She was given a new haircut, makeup, nail treatment, and other services — including a new shawl and gift basket donated by Cleveland fashion designer Stephanie Morris Nunn.

Nunn, whose work has won numerous awards, donated the gift from her knit contour line Nadira. The salon also collected a $200 Visa gift card, contributed by Maurice's Clothing Boutique in Rocky River.

Eternal Salon offers organic hair color and styling products, natural hair styling, hair extensions and wig options, and natural nail care to those who are recovering from cancer.

Their next makeover event with The Gathering Place will be held on Mother's Day. Visit their Facebook page or website for further information.

Eternal Salon is located at 19063 Lake Road in Rocky River, 440-710-4447.
