Singer/actor Alan Cumming gives new meaning to the word versatile. The guy has done it all: he’s had gigs as a political maverick (The Good Wife), a “pansexual pied piper” (Cabaret), a cartoon-character voice (The Smurfs) and an “all-knowing, affable host” (PBS-TV’s Masterpiece Mystery).

When he brings Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs to Connor Palace on Dec. 4, he’ll offer up “a raucous and emotional firestorm of wildly entertaining stories — from sassy to sentimental” as he takes on songs from such diverse artists as Noël Coward, Stephen Sondheim, Miley Cyrus and Adele.

The show serves as a recreation of his famous Carlyle Hotel cabaret residency, an act that began as post-show entertainment in his dressing room during the Broadway revival of Cabaret, for which he won a Tony Award. Cumming has also won Golden Globe, Emmy, SAG and Satellite Award nominations for his work in theater, TV and film.

Tickets for Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs will go on sale at 10 a.m. tomorrow at playhousesqaure.org. Prices will be $75, $65, $50, $40 and $10. Special VIP tickets will be available too.
