Sit-In Protest Planned This Afternoon at Sen. Rob Portman's Office Over Health Care Bill

[image-1]Protesters will gather at Sen. Rob Portman's downtown Cleveland office at 2 p.m. to demand a "no" vote during the impending American Health Care Act hearing. Similar protests are taking place in Republican senators' offices from Maine to Alaska today.

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the AHCA could cause some 1 million Ohioans to lose access to health insurance. Portman's most recent statement, offered after the CBO report: "We will review the new analysis as we work on a different approach here in the Senate."

(Even with all that on the table, the Affordable Care Act isn't faring so well in Ohio these days. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield pulled out of the individual exchanges earlier this month.)

A vote on the AHCA is expected in the U.S. Senate sometime this month. The House approved the bill in May.

Portman's office is at 1240 E. 9th St., Room 3061.
