Skateboarder Dies After Public Square Accident

Olando Coleman, 19, was hit by a car yesterday on Public Square and has died from his injuries.

Details are few at this moment, but according to 19 Action News, the driver is cooperating with the cops.

They also have a quote from a witness to the accident. Natalie Miller tells them, "A black car was coming kind of fast and she hit him. The young man was leaning down to get his skateboard and she hit him."

According to police, just after 5 p.m. they received a call for a pedestrian struck at Ontario Street and Euclid Avenue.

A Pontiac Grand Am was operating southbound on Ontario Street at the Euclid Avenue intersection. As the driver continued through the intersection with a green light, a pedestrian skate board went into traffic.

Police say that Coleman then chased after his skateboard into traffic and was struck by the Grand Am. The driver stopped after hitting the teen and is cooperating with police.
