Updated: It's official. The Ohio Turnpike Commission voted to bump the speed limit on the toll road up to 70 mph, a change that goes into effect on April 1, 2011.

Vaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrroooooooooommmmmmmm. Obnoxiously rev those V6s, road hogs and speed freaks. The Ohio Turnpike Commission is considering a proposal that would jack up the speed limit on the cross-state toll road to 70 mph. The increase isn’t just to raise the rubber-per-square foot burned on the 241-mile highway or further embarrass those of us with mid-90s Saturns that can’t get over 65 mph in one piece. It’s all about the economy, stupid.
