The Black Keys are among the handful of great artists who pay tribute to the late Buddy Holly on a new album coming out next month.
The Keys' contribution to Rave On Buddy Holly is "Dearest," which isn't one of the Texas rocker's many hits. Rather, it's a crawling dirge featuring Holly's hiccup-soaked signature sound, which Dan Auerbach nails on the just-barely-two-minutes cut.
You can hear the song here.
The album, which comes out on June 28 in celebration of Holly's 75th birthday, also includes songs by My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo Green, and Julian Casablancas.
The Black Keys' song opens the album and is one of the least-known tracks, two things that should make it one of the record's highlights. —Michael Gallucci
