Update: Well, kudos to the City of Cleveland for getting the Center Street Bridge fixed in a timely manner this morning. It's now open again after being closed earlier today.

Of course, it could and will likely malfunction at some point this weekend, so just be aware.

If it's not routine maintenance then it's an unexpected but nevertheless frequent mechanical malfunction, and if it's neither of those, then it's a stray lawnmower left in the path of the swinging bridge to get snarled up in process, as was the case last month.

The City of Cleveland this morning announced that the Center Street Bridge in the Flats has been closed immediately for repair, which is just great timing considering the thousands of people that will be traversing the river this week for July 4th festivities.

Detour info, as if you're not intimately familiar with the alternative routes by this, the estimated 743rd closure of the bridge in the past few years: From Columbus Road, to Franklin Avenue, to West 25th Street and then onto Main Avenue.
