The New Akron Art Library Works to Bring Free Art to All

In an effort to bring the joy of original art to all homes (not just those with the means), Akron-Summit County Public Library cardholders can soon check out actual paintings, prints and photographs created by artists in Northeast Ohio and beyond for free.

A collaboration with the Akron Art Museum, the Akron Art Library officially opens to the public March 1, allowing patrons to take home incredible pieces for up to four weeks at a time for free.

Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Library, hosts a first-look party Feb. 22 for those eager to see which pieces are soon available. The event, running from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., includes family-friendly art activities and presentations by artists whose works are featured in the collection.

In case you needed any more proof that having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card, Arthur is here to drive the point home.
