The Pub in Rocky River to Re-Open as Burntwood Tavern

The carcass of The Pub in Rocky River was still warm when the team behind the Burntwood Tavern (504 E. Washington St., 440-318-1560) planted its flag on the property. The owners intend to open a west-side location of the popular Chagrin Falls restaurant by mid-October.

When I spoke to owner Bret Adams last summer as he was preparing to open the first location, he said the goal was to operate multiple units. Apparently, he is a man of his word. When it opens in fall, the Rocky River Burntwood Tavern should mimic the handsome American bistro in terms of atmosphere, food and service.

"We're looking to build on the success that we have enjoyed in Chagrin Falls," explains GM Ian Hopkins. "Rocky River seemed like a logical fit in terms of demographics. That area of town is great, with a great clientele."

Already busy with construction, the space will be reworked to create a warm and rustic American tavern. Walls are coming down, reclaimed barn wood going up. Larger than the original location, the west-side restaurant will seat over 130 diners, including a 40-seat bar.

Diners can expect a menu identical to that found on the East Side, says Hopkins. Chef Ryan Scanlon will be making the move across town.

"We're going to do the same thing that we do here," adds Hopkins, "which is providing a guest-centric focus on the entire business. Every day and every guest that walks in the door, we're giving them a great experience. That translates from East to West and everywhere else."
