There aren't exactly different levels of depravity when you're talking about someone who broke into a church and stole something. Low is low, and that's shitbag, scumbag low.
But a couple of thieves who broke into the Victory Fellowship Church on W. 47th this week are lower than most — they nabbed just about anything that wasn't nailed down, which is probably why they didn't make off with Jesus.
They did, however, walk off with the "Jesus Jar," which was full of loose change, and the church's supply of coffee. 19 Action News talked to the pastor.
"We don't turn anyone away, I don't care if you haven't showered in a week, I'll hug you cause Jesus would hug you and help you" says Jeff Ortiz, Pastor of Victory Fellowship Church.The church is barely making ends meet by community donations, and the soulless punks took almost everything. Sound system, speakers, and Jesus Jar loose change…all gone. "They stole the lawn mower, even stole our coffee for the people who come in from the cold looking for coffee" says Ortiz.
Like we said. Low.
