Two years ago,
Visible Voice owner/founder Dave Ferrante held the inaugural Rock-A-Lot in the parking lot of what would become the new location of his bookstore. Now, the bookstore is up and running, and Visible Voice will again host Rock-A-Lot on Sunday, July 15, during this year’s
Taste of Tremont.
The free event, which takes place from noon to 7 p.m. will feature non-alcoholic thirst quenchers, domestic and craft brews and Tito’s Handmade Vodka raspberry lemonade.
“Something like 16,000 people descend on the neighborhood for Taste of Tremont to explore its art, food and shops and we obviously hope people who have yet to see the store will head into the air conditioning for some literary serendipitous discovery,” says Ferrante in a press release announcing the event. “We’re going to give away a package that includes six months of curated reading, a Visible Voice T-shirt and a loyalty card that can be redeemed for free drinks and pastry.”
Kids from local writer/artist/performer Daniel Gray- Kontar’s afterschool program Twelve Literary will kick off things off with a poetry reading. Local acts Cats on Holiday and the George Martins, a Beatles cover band, will also perform.
“Who doesn’t want to hear Cats on Holiday’s genre-bending blend of blues, zydeco, and rock is always a hit with Clevelanders,” says Ferrante.
Visible Voice’s downstairs neighbor Crust will serve up Moscow Mules and slices of its artisan-made pizza.
“We appreciate how our new location opens up and integrates more fully with the neighborhood,” says Crust owner Michael Griffin. “There’s a lot of energy here each and every day, and Taste of Tremont just takes that up a notch.”
