Vosh Brings Live Music, Decades of Experience to Lakewood Scene

The trinity for the Krivosh family is complete. First there was Around the Corner. And then came Georgetown Restaurant (formerly Three Birds). And finally (perhaps) comes Vosh (18515 Detroit Rd., 216-767-5202, voshclub.com), which opened next to the popular Lakewood restaurant. Vosh, a playful spin on the family name, opened just over one week ago.

"Tossing names around, we wanted to have a cool name that represented our family and our commitment to Lakewood," says co-owner Ryan Krivosh. A true family affair, Vosh is a collaboration of the entire clan, including founder Mickey, son Ryan, and daughter Jennifer to name a few. And all this under the watchful eye of Mickey's wife, Patty.

Housed in the historic former Bonnie Bell building, the old warehouse has been reinvented to include design features from historic Lakewood venues. Vintage pieces include a sign from an old Lakewood theater marquee and doors salvaged from a former local church. Additionally, many features hail from Lakewood Country Club's clubhouse, including a fireplace, oak trim, decorative mirrors and ceiling tiles used throughout the space. In warm weather, large garage doors will open up to the beloved courtyard patio shared with Georgetown.

Originally conceived strictly as a Jazz club, the musical net has been widened to welcome blues, Motown and various other genres. "This type of concept works very well on the East Side, but there is a shortage of West Side establishments that really cater to this type of music and entertainment," explains Ryan Krivosh.

As for the drink, Vosh will offer a wide variety of craft beer, specialty cocktails and a competitively priced wine list. "We worked hard to build the drink menu for the crowd that will listen to Motown and Jazz," Ryan says. When it comes to the food at Vosh, management will work with what they've already got. "We are using the back line of Georgetown's kitchen to create delicious small plates," adds Ryan. "We want Georgetown quality with approachable prices."

A quick visit to this joint is evidence that live music now has a sweet new home in Lakewood — one that will keep residents tapping their feet seven days a week.
