[image-1]Although Weapons of Mass Creation Fest is still a month away, it always seems to sell out well in advance of the event itself. While we’ll have more details on the weekend’s events closer to this year’s event (Aug. 5 to 7), organizers are offering a very special deal this week. In fact, their website describes this special deal as “the best promotion ever.”
This year’s WMC Fest takes over Playhouse Square’s Ohio and Kennedy Theatres, as well as the State Theatre Lobby. A nationally recognized weekend-long design conference, the seventh incarnation of WMC Fest features eight workshops, 10 guest speakers, three panel discussions, interactive demonstrations, Vendor Village with more than 20 vendors, live artwork, podcasts and more. Each year, the event attracts more than 1,000 attendees. Hosted by Aaron Sechrist of OkPants, WMC Fest features special guest speakers: Jillian Adel, Mark Brickey, Lily Rose Lee, Isabel Urbina Pena, Wilson Revehl, Stefan Sagmeister, Sean Starr, Darius Stubbs, Jeral Tidwell and Jay Wallace.
“Weapons of Mass Creation Fest is an opportunity for our community to come together and recharge one another,” says WMC Fest event director Heather Sakai. “It's an opportunity to remember why we decided to take a chance on ourselves, pursue the arts, believe that we could turn our drawings into design studios and craft up magic with our hands. The electricity in the air throughout the three-day weekend at the Playhouse is something special and shows me how important this event is not only to our attendees, but to our city.”
The weekend-long conference was founded by local design firm Go Media as “three days that will change your life.” The festival is centered on networking, sharing ideas and collaboration, as well and equality and embracing each other’s uniqueness. Again this year, organizers are showcasing Cleveland’s revitalization; introducing (and re-introducing) the festival’s many out-of-town guests to the many positive changes taking place throughout Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
In honor of Independence Day, organizers are offering a special Buy One, Get One Free special on three-day passes to this year’s WMC Fest. The sale continues through Sunday, July 10. Additionally, organizers are celebrating the Cavs NBA championship with 25 percent off both single day and three day passes (the two offers cannot be combined).
“Sixty percent of our attendees are coming from outside of Ohio - creative hubs like Chicago, Portland, Miami, Los Angeles, New York City. We love how wide-spread we reach, but would love some more Cleveland presence this year. We are offering 25 percent off any ticket (general admission day pass or 3-day pass) to celebrate our championship city with code CLE at wmcfest.com.”
As usual, tickets, especially three-day passes, are expected to sell out quickly. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit wmcfest.com.
