- The final pretrial hearing for accused Chardon High School shooter T.J. Lane is set for today. 19 Action News has an ongoing lineup of past stories for background reading. Lane's trial is slated to begin later this month, though lawyers are expected to ask for more time.

- The Plain Dealer followed up on the Cleveland Clinic's goal of performing 12 live liver transplants last year. Surgeons achieved the goal, which, at the outset, seemed rather lofty.

- Lorain's EMH Regional Medical Center will pay the U.S. $3,863,857 following accusations of submitting false claims to Medicare, according to The Cleveland Leader. Here's more:

"The settlement resolves allegations that EMH and NOHC performed angioplasty and stent placement procedures on patients who had heart disease but whose blood vessels were not sufficiently occluded to require the particular procedures at issue. The allegations came to light when a whistleblower filed a complaint under the False Claims Act. Under the FCA, private citizens may bring suit for false claims on behalf of the United States and receiver a share of the recovery obtained by the government."
