Sad news for the birthplace of aviation this weekend.
CNN reports that a replica of a 1910 Wright brothers plane crashed in Springfield, Ohio, over the weekend, killing both men aboard (Don Gum, 73; Mitchell Cary, 65).
The replica of the Model B aircraft — the Model B came seven years after the Wright brothers first took to the air — was owned by Wright "B" Flyer Inc. Reports say test flights in June went off without a hitch or sign of worry, leading Gum and Cary to take to the air. The Ohio Highway Patrol, the FAA, and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
