Front row seats at Chubby's

Posted By on Tue, Sep 26, 2006 at 12:55 PM

Blue collars and Baldwin-Wallace coeds have all been jockeying for stools during this football season at Slim & Chubby's sports bar ( in Strongsville. The bar's 40-plus TVs have been playing to sold-out crowds for Ohio State games. The club even holds a drawing every Saturday to pick eight fans to sit in recliners in front of three widescreen plasma screens. The winners get to swill a case of Bud Light and chow down on eight appetizers, all on the house. But don't count owner Daniel Deegan among the pathological Buckeye fans. A good Irish Catholic boy from Youngstown, Deegan runs his mouth like a Notre Dame junkie. "I catch a lot of flack in this area since my whole family likes Notre Dame," he says. "But I don't dislike Ohio State because everybody in Youngstown thinks Jim Tressel is a god." -- Cris Glaser
