This Week's Most Fabulous Stuff

Party with this bird this Thursday at the zoo's annual Valentine's party
This week's top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who's paid to pick them: Monday: More than 900 vendors and exhibitors show off everything from the latest garden gadgets to home-improvement designs at the sixth annual Home & Garden Show. For the next week, the I-X Center's a green, cozy, and warm refuge from the chilly temps outside. Tuesday: Ever watch Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo and think, "Shit. That Shabba-Doo can dance!" At the Idea Center's weekly Hip-Hop Dance Class for Adults, you too can bust moves that'll have folks' jaws dropping all down Euclid Avenue. Wednesday: It's not just clothes that are unloaded at Around the Corner's monthly Clothing Swap; you can also trade in old coffeepots, bed linens, and shoes — pretty much any crap you have laying around the house. Thursday: The zoo's annual Valentine's Day party -- Animal Attractions — may include drinks, appetizers, and the opportunity to hang out in the RainForest without camera-wielding tourists bumping into you. But we know why you really go — to learn how monkeys, rhinos, and elephants get busy. Yeah, baby! Friday: Jacques Brel was indeed alive and well and living in Paris when the hit musical played in the '70s. But now that he's dead and buried in the Marquesas Islands, Kalliope Stage has reinvented the show as The Music of Jacques Brel. That means some of the show's Vietnam-era references have turned into Iraq-era references. But you still have to sit through "Seasons in the Sun." --Michael Gallucci
