Mikey G's Entertainment Picks of the Week

My Chemical Romance is at the Wolstein tonight
This week's top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who's paid to pick them: Monday: Word around the Scene office is that My Chemical Romance is for girls. Teenage girls to be specific. If that's the case, sign me up for a subscription to Seventeen, because I can't get enough of 'em. Look for me at the Wolstein Center tonight. I'll be the one in the cute little red skirt and the black nail polish. Tuesday: Why stay home and watch Law & Order reruns when you can get a front-row seat at Citizen Police Academy? The workshop takes folks behind the scenes of the Cleveland Police Department -- from a rundown of search-and-seizure techniques to a tour of the 911 call center. Think of it as pre-emptive research. Wednesday: Rita Mae Brown wrote the coming-of-age lesbian novel Rubyfruit Jungle. She also pens books with her cat, Sneaky Pie. The pair just published Puss 'n Cahoots — right after they hit the catnip. Brown (without Sneaky Pie) talks about her book at Joseph-Beth tonight. Thursday: The Epitaph Tour brings a bunch of screamo bands to the Grog Shop tonight: Escape the Fate, I Am Ghost, the Higher, and the Matches. It's gonna be loud. Friday: Grab the kids! Grover's in town. Sesame's Street's purple, easily exasperated monster dons cape and tights and saves the world from grumpy grownups at the State Theatre all weekend. --Michael Gallucci
