Thank Mom in Style

Posted By on Thu, Apr 19, 2007 at 2:28 PM

Sweeping through the entrance of downtown's Ritz-Carlton -- high heels clacking just so on the shiny marble floor, valets and doormen murmuring warm greetings -- is about as close to feeling famous as most mothers ever get. So what better way to indulge the old girl than by taking her to the hotel's special Mother's Day Afternoon Tea on Saturday, May 12? Held in the elegantly appointed sixth-floor Lobby Lounge, complete with crystal chandeliers, velvet upholstery, fresh flowers, and a marble fireplace, the precisely presented ritual includes gourmet teas, finger sandwiches, dear little scones and clotted cream, and gemlike pastries. And to toast Mom, don't forget the Champagne! Cost for the lavish affair is $38 for adults and $15 for children under 12 -- hardly significant when you consider how much your tuition payments crimped Mom's style. Seatings are from noon to 4, and reservations are strongly recommended, at 216-902-5255. -- Elaine T. Cicora
