Party with Municipal Waste at Now That's Class

Posted By on Wed, Jul 18, 2007 at 12:40 PM

Friday night, after they open for Agnostic front, Municipal Waste will be unwinding at Now That’s Class, 11213 Detroit Ave., 216-221-8576), the preferred Westside hang for a tattooed crowd who like their tunes fast and loud. Never heard of Municipal Waste? They’re grizzly, beer-soaked, long-haired dudes in denim and leather. The thrash revivalists play crossover metal-punk like it’s 1985. And their new album, The Art of Partying, has songs like “Beer Pressure,” “Chemically Altered,” and “Born To Party.” So, yes, they’re the kind of dudes you want to tip a couple brews with. If you’re a fan, maybe you think they’re not, since their last Cleveland show was canceled at the last minute. But trust us, they’re OK: When singer Tony Foresta called Scene, he started off by apologizing. “The person that was booking that [tour] was a total idiot,” explains Foresta. “We didn’t even know about that show. She totally dropped the ball on the entire tour.” Foresta is friends with the bar’s owners, who seem to know everybody that plays the kind of music your parents and neighbors don’t like. And the Waste are big fans of Cleveland. “The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame sucks balls,” says Foresta. “But the people [in Cleveland] are cool.” - D.X. Ferris
