Money Where Your Mouth Is: What To Do Friday Night Edition

Posted By on Thu, Oct 4, 2007 at 11:19 AM

Rather than actually put pen to paper and describe Do Make Say Think and Pensive, the Scene Music Department spent all afternoon watching bootleg footage of the first night of the Van Halen tour on YouTube. So they’ll just directly reprint the bands’ words. Long story short: DMST are post-rock that rocks. And Pensive … Pensive likes Green Day. A lot. Band: Do Make Say Think Web: www.domakesaythink.com Hometown: Toronto/Ontario, Canada Sounds like: “The best orgasm you've ever had. Promise.” Recommend for fans of: “Strong musicianship and emotional crescendos, and a great fucking time.” Fun band fact: “I cant believe we've lasted 12 years and 5 albums.” Playing: Friday October 5 at the Grog Shop (2785 Euclid Hts. Blvd., 216-321-5588). Why you need to see them: “If you want to be inspired. We are completely unlike anything you have seen, and often the show everyone talks about years later.” -- Dave Mitchell, drummer. Band: Pensive Web: www.myspace.com/pensive or www.pensive.net Hometown: San Diego, CA Sounds like: “Power pop with a splash of punk and a twist alternative rock.” Recommend for fans of: “Sugarcult, Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, the Ataris.” Fun fact: “The two founding members of the band met on the high school tennis team.” Playing Where/When: Friday, October 6 at Phantasy Nite Club, 11802 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 216-228-6300. Why you need to see them: “Because you like to rock… and the band needs gas money. Plus, you like to have a good time, right? Then come on!” - Kerry
