Every week, Scene calendar editor Cris Glaser provides a random but reliable sampling of things to do in the week ahead. For more options, log onto entertainment.clevescene.com. And check back Friday for C-Notes' Picks of the Weekend. Tuesday: Montreal’s Cirque du Soleil parachutes into Cleveland State’s Wolstein Center (2000 Prospect Avenue; 216-241-5555) with Saltimbanco at 7:30 p.m. If the high-flying, pole-balancing, bungee-jumping extravaganza rings a bell, it’s because the acrobatic troupe has given its vintage-1992 act a tune-up with flashier moves and snazzier music. Tickets go for between $31 and $65. Wedneday: South African music gods Ladysmith Black Mambazo rattles the roof off E.J. Thomas Hall (198 Hill Street in Akron; 330-972-7570)at 7:30 p.m. The Grammy nominees come to town with their new CD, Ilemba: Honoring Shaka Zulu, a tribute to the 18th-century Zulu royal. Tickets cost between $22.50 and $27.50. Thursday: Punishing heavy metal rules tonight at the Agora (5000 Euclid Avenue; 216-881-6911) for the Guerilla Carnival Tour. Droid, Ill Nino, Torne, and Bobaflex fill the bill for the 7 p.m. concert. An $18 ticket gets you in the door.
