Hollywood celebs: Please don’t encourage Kucinich

Dear Sean: The people politely ask that you stop giving money to the guy who's screwing us
The Associated Press delivers troubling news today: Hollywood celebs are giving money to Dennis Kucinich. Bonnie Raitt, Hector Elizondo, Michael Douglas, and even, God help us, Sean Penn, have together thrown the West Side congressman more than $6,000. That’s a drop in the bucket compared to what Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have raked in from the beautiful people, but it’s disturbing nonetheless… Surely Hollywood guys love to hear pretty things, and no one can tell you what you want to hear better than Denny. The problem is that little thing called “follow through.” In more than a decade in Congress, Kucinich has yet to be acquainted with the theory, confusing talking with doing. His list of accomplishments could be written on the side of a match. None of which matters to the celebs, of course. All they know is that Cleveland is “somewhere in Indiana,” and that Kucinich is fighting the brave rhetorical fight, not ignoring one of the poorest cities in America. Memo to the beautiful people: Please, don’t encourage the elf. Just use the money to better tip your limo driver. – Lisa Rab
