It's Freezing. You're Hungry. It's Time You Met the Souper Market

Posted By on Thu, Jan 24, 2008 at 6:30 AM

If you don't already know, now is as good as any time to learn about the region’s best source for soup -- Matt Moore’s Souper Market, the homegrown Ohio City soup shop (2528 Lorain Avenue, 216-737-SOUP) that recently added a second location in the heart of Lakewood (14809 Detroit Avenue, 216-712-7292). Moore and his staffers offer 10 seasonal soups daily – eight weather-appropriate standards like lobster bisque or cream of mushroom, along with two weekly specials. ... This week, for instance, that means cream of chicken and vegetarian pho in Ohio City; and beef chili and cream of potato with roasted garlic in Lakewood. While dine-in space is limited, particularly at the Ohio City digs, the soups, available in 8-, 12-, 16-, and 32-ounce sizes, make perfect carryout dinners. And for those with a DIY bent, Moore and his staff offer beef, chicken, fish, and vegetable stock to get you started on your own customized kettle. Visit www.thesoupermarket.com for menus, a calendar of weekly specials, and locations. --- Elaine T.
