Even in death, Robert Lockwood Junior still packs the room at Fat Fish Blue, just like he and his All-Stars did for several years on Wednesday nights before he died in late 2006. Tonight’s no different. To channel some winning energy for the venerable bluesman’s third Grammy Award nomination, Lockwood’s family is inviting friends and fans alike for a Bring That Grammy Home party. ... The All-Stars will be back on stage, paying tribute to Lockwood's legacy as the house guitarist on the King Biscuit Flower Hour, the longest-running American-radio show, broadcast in syndication from WFFA-AM 1360 in Helena, Arkansas. Tonight's blowout hypes the nominated CD, Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas, an 18-track disc that was released after Lockwood’s death from a brain aneurysm at the age of 91. On it, he joined fellow blues legends Henry James Townsend, Joe Willie “Pinetop” Perkins, and David “Honeyboy” Edwards in a 2004 concert in Dallas, where they riffed on several originals, including Lockwood’s “For You My Love,” “King Biscuit Time,” and “Got to Find Me a Woman.” On December 6, the National Academy of Recording Artists & Sciences announced that the album scored a Grammy nomination in the Best Traditional Blues Album category against fierce competition: Kenny Wayne with 10 Days Out: Blues From the Backroads, Koko Taylor with Old School, and Perkins himself with Pinetop Perkins: On the ‘88s – Live From Chicago. The results will be telecast at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS-TV from the Staples Center in L.A. “Please join us as we put out collective prayers together for a Grammy win for dad and his musical collaborators,” says Vi Welch, Lockwood’s stepdaughter, who’s the executive assistant to the president of Marymount Hospital. The party runs from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at Fat Fish Blue, 21 Prospect Avenue. Admission is free. Call 216-875-6000 for more information. -- Cris Glaser
