Why isn't anyone questioning U of Akron trustee Jack Morrison?

Posted By on Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 5:16 AM

I would like to express to you how well written the articles about Paul Monea have been [“Jailhouse Rock,” March 28, 2007, and "Pitchman," December 4, 2002]. They have been pleasant to read as it is nice to see someone who finally has the gull to illustrate Paul for the kind of person he really is. I have known Paul for approximately 20 years, and I can personally tell you everything you have said about him has been completely accurate... I am however puzzled by one thing. I felt that if there was anyone else out there intelligent enough to put this information together in an accurate way, it would most definitely be you and your writing style. Throughout the entire process of handling the current situation with Paul regarding the diamond, estate, boat deal, etc, Jack Morrison has been Paul’s attorney. As many know, Jack is a prominent attorney in the Akron area, a trustee at the University of Akron, and a key player in the Republican Party both at a local and state level. There have also recently (January & February 2008) been many articles written pretaining to many issues involving him and the Republican Party. Mr. Morrison was not only right in the middle of this whole ordeal with Paul, but his firm even received the deposit money, and yet no one is questioning or voicing his concerns about Jack. I find it extremely surprising that the University of Akron has been ok with watching one of their trustees being a part of this trial, let alone going to the defense of Paul and his involvement. In the meantime, many issues have been raised about Mr. Morrison and his business associates, not to mention his son and their involvement in real estate sales around the University of Akron (see Akron Beacon Journal issues for the months of October, November, and possibly December 2007). This whole situation just keeps going on and on, and it seems that no one ever has the common sense to connect the dots. I felt that your paper was the only one who actually have the tenacity to do so, as illustrated by the various articles you have written about Paul. A long time reader who greatly enjoys your articles
