Posted By on Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 7:20 AM

Unless you recognize a comedian’s name as That Girl From that Movie or the Dude from That One HBO Special, it can be hard to tell whether a stand-up is worth seeing. Lucky you: Scene did the legwork, and the skinny on this week’s big comedy shows, video included, is just a click away. – D.X. Ferris Comedian: Kevin Pollak Specialty: As seen in A Few Good Men and The Usual Suspects, Pollak is also a heckuvan impressionist. In addition to stories from Hollywood life, he does a killer imitation of Christopher Walken, Peter Faulk (the Columbo guy), and William Shatner. Playing: Thursday, March 20 through Saturday, March 22, Hilarities, $23-25. Showtimes: Thu: 8 p.m. Fri-Sat: 7:30 and 10:15 p.m. Comedian: The Disgruntled Clown, with Jason Benci Specialty: At 6’5” and 285 pounds, the Disgruntled Clown is no Bozo, and his ideas on how kids should be disciplined aren’t exactly family-friendly. Playing: Tuesday, March 18 through Saturday, March 22 Playing: The Funny Stop, 1757 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls, 330-923-4700, Tue-Thu: 8:30 p.m. Fri, Sat: Two shows: 8 and 10:30 p.m. $5-$16, two-drink minimum. Comedian: Tim Gaither Specialty: Born in the South and raised in the Midwest, Gaither delivers winning bits like “Mildly Retarded,” “Racist,” and “Old People” in a genial drawl. Playing: The Improv, 2000 Sycamore St., East Bank of the Flats, 216-696-4677, Tue-Thu: 8 p.m., Fri-Sat: 8 and 10:15 p.m. $16-$18.
