Since the merger of Scene and Free Times in July 2008, we've gotten by with a web site that was functional, but pretty far from state of the art. Many of you have called or e-mailed to ask why (and I've tried to respond to those who didn't wrap the query in condescension). Long story short, developing a new site that offered everything the old Scene site did and more took a lot longer than we thought it would.
The blog you're reading right now is Scene&Heard, and corresponds to the section of the same name in the print edition. Scene&Heard is like the paper's opening act, eager to please and not above resorting to sarcasm and obscenities. Not everything from the blog will make it to print, of course, and we might publish some items in print first; after all, the dead-tree version pays the bills.
By the way, all pre- and post-merger Scene archives are available on this site. Free Times archives remain at freetimes.com. (Don't ask.) — Frank Lewis
