Looks like we have a call. There are idiots and they are everywhere.

A merry trip through the local police blotters. The lesson, as always: People are dumb.

From Highland Heights:

ANIMAL PROBLEM, MILLRIDGE ROAD: A woman called police when her cat got stuck under the TV set. Police were able to free the cat.

From Mayfield Heights:

THEFT, MAYFIELD ROAD: A manager of Gaetano’s restaurant found a shopping cart full of liquor and food July 27 next to a trash container. The groceries, stolen from the neighboring Giant Eagle, included steaks, crab legs and ribs. The value of the groceries was $485. 28.

JUVENILE COMPLAINT, MALLARD DRIVE: A group of youths admitted to police July 29 that they had been throwing rocks in the street. Officers stood by as the group cleaned up their mess.

From Brookpark:

LYING ABOUT AUTO THEFT, BROOKPARK ROAD: A 54-year-old Maple Heights man was arrested for lying about his 2002 Ford Expedition being stolen. The vehicle was taken by two women who met him in a room at Americas Best Value Inn, 14043 Brookpark, following an arrangement for sex made on-line, police said.

The women did so while he took a shower that they requested he take. The man, however, told police the car was taken July 27 while he left it unattended and idling at an RTA station in the 18000 block of Brookpark. The man said he went there to give a friend a ride.

From Middleburg Heights:

FELONIOUS ASSAULT, SOUTHLAND DRIVE: A Brook Park woman, 43, went to the store for milk Sunday and saw her husband walking in front of Marc’s with another woman. The girlfriend kept walking while the man went to get the girlfriend’s car. The wife tried to hit the girlfriend with the car, striking a Marc’s flower stand. She got out of the car to confront the girlfriend, who ignored her. She then got back in her vehicle, a Ford Escape, and hit the woman’s Ford Fusion several times. Margaret Ruggiero was charged with assault with a weapon, a fourth-degree felony.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON, BIG CREEK PARKWAY: Four girls, ages 12 and 13, rode bicycles Sunday on the trail by Bagley Road. A elderly man in a maroon car pulled up near them and held a toy Scooby Doo out the window and began barking. The girls continued riding, but they encountered the man again at the crossover by Big Creek School. He held up the dog again and barked, then said “I’m going to follow you.” The girls rode to one of their homes, where a father called police. The man was not found.
