Ben Roethlisberger is Confused About Ohio Geography, His Hometown

Posted By on Thu, Aug 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM

Hes sorta from Findlay, sorta from Never Never Land.
  • He's sorta from Findlay, sorta from Never Never Land.

Ben Roethlisberger is a Findlay boy. Has been for years. He's called Findlay his hometown, played high school football there, and been celebrated there.

In the latest Steelers' media guide, however, Big Ben lists his hometown as Cory Rawson, OH.

Why the change? Who knows. The important thing to know is that Cory Rawson doesn't exist.

There is a Rawson, OH. There is also a Mt. Cory, OH. The two cities actually combine to share a school district called Cory-Rawson.

No such city exists though.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

The quarterback enthusiastically called Findlay, Ohio, home since the Steelers drafted him in 2004. But he has made a revision. His hometown is now listed as Cory Rawson, Ohio, in the Steelers' media guide and all of their rosters, at Roethlisberger's request.

Why the change? Roethlisberger will only say that he did not actually live in Findlay, but went to Findlay High School. Rawson, Ohio, also in Hancock County, is 10 miles from Findlay. There is no Cory Rawson, Ohio, nor is there a Cory, Ohio, but there is a Mt. Cory which makes up part of the Cory-Rawson school district.

I'm sure the fine people of Findlay are heartbroken that Ben no longer claims it as his hometown.
