You've seen Arthur Elk. He's the Elk with the bad hairpiece in the Elk and Elk commercials. You know the ones: "Serious lawyers for serious injuries."

Well, seems that Arthur Elk himself was in need of a good lawyer because he was taken to court recently by a friend of his son.

Justin Grischkan sued Elk for an incident that happened on Elk's property back in 2002. Grischkan, 13 at the time, was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident, and recently sought damages from Elk for ongoing pain from the crash.

The Plain Dealer has the details:

Justin Grischkan had been a friend at the time of Arthur Elk's son, Ryan Elk. He lost control of the Honda ATV on a bump in the path where the vehicle would leave the ground, smacked into a tree and broke a bone in his arm and dislocated his wrist. When he became an adult, he filed the suit on his own because of lingering pain and the need for further treatment. He said at that young age, he did not comprehend the dangers.

Elk, according to courtroom observers, didn't make a convincing argument when he testified that he allowed kids to ride ATVs often despite warnings on the user's manual that no one under 16 should ever operate one.

How did Elk fare in the suit? Well, not good, probably after saying in a deposition regarding the ATV warnings that, "I have chosen not to follow their instruction."

The jury found in favor of Grisckhan and awarded him $154,000.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer hairpiece.
