Update: Joshua Ricket pleaded guilty to murdering his girlfriend's 19-month-old son. When the child would not stop crying, Ricket threw the baby on a bed and choked him. He faces life in prison.

Joshua Ricket was babysitting Jordan Pizzi, his girlfriend's 19-month-old son, Friday when the child sustained injuries that eventually led to his death.

Pizzi was taken to Tri-Point Medical Center in Painesville before being pronounced dead.

Ricket had been dating Joanna Pizzi, Jordan's mother, for little over a month according to her relatives.

She left him alone with her child, and now Ricket is behind bars.

Authorities found injuries that led them to investigate possible child abuse and more.

The 24-year-old was given $1 million bond in an arraignment today on charges of reckless homicide.

According to the Plain Dealer's report:

Lake County Sheriff Dan Dunlop said the coroner reported that the baby had multiple injuries — some obvious, some internal. He said the case has been turned over to the Lake County Prosecutor's office and that additional charges may be filed.

Joanna Pizzi's three other children — ages 7, 5 and 2 — are staying with the woman's mother

According to Pizzi's mother-in-law, Ricket had told the authorities he was trying to get the baby to stop crying.

Obviously something worse went down.

Our thoughts and prayers are obviously with the Pizzi family.
