The Imperial 11: Inside The Lives Destroyed By Anthony Sowell

The house of horrors on Imperial Avenue in Mount Pleasant where 11 bodies were found last year is the epicenter of the story of alleged serial killer Anthony Sowell. This is where the monster lived. This is where the horrifying crimes took place.

But the story radiates far there, to the houses of the victims, to the houses of the victims' families, to their sons and daughters and mothers and cousins and fathers and friends.

For the most part, those stories haven't been told. As much as has been written about Sowell, the 11 women have remained in the background.

It's worth your while to check out this lengthy and incredibly sad feature from CNN on those 11 women — their troubles, their lives beyond the easy classifications of 'drug users' or 'former prostitutes,' and the families that loved them.
